Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Why did the website show my order in stock, but the shoes weren't there to ship?

A: Jack's Shoes is a live store and it is possible the item you ordered was purchased by someone in the store before your on-line order arrived. We will do all we can to get your order shipped to you as quickly as possible. We will contact you for permission to process your order if we anticipate a delay of more than 3 weeks to deliver your order.

Q: I am not sure my new shoes fit. Why does my new shoe slip in the heel? Is it too big?

A: Heel slipping doesn't necessarily mean your new shoes are too big. Often new shoes slip in the heel because the new sole is stiff and therefore not flexing with your foot. Even a shoe that is too small could slip in the heel when new.

Q: How can I determine if the shoes fit properly?

Most people put on a new shoe and immediately put their thumb on their big toe to see if it fits. This will not give you the best indication of proper fit.

If the widest part of your foot is in the widest part of the shoe, this is the better indication of proper fit. At the back of your big toe is a joint called the ball joint. This is usually the widest part of your foot on the big toe side. The part right behind your baby toe is usually the widest part of your foot on the other side. Your goal is to have this area on both sides of your foot close to the widest parts of the shoe. It doesn't matter how far back your toes are from the front. The most important fit area is from the ball of the foot (the widest area just discussed) to the heel, not the toe. This fitting technique will offer the most comfortable fit for you.

Don't be fooled by the size marked in the shoe. The most important indication of proper fit is the ball to heel alignment. The size is only a number and again not consistent with all shoes.

Q: Why do I wear different sizes in different shoes?

A: There are no standard sizes within the shoe industry. This means for proper fit, you could wear several different sizes in different styles of different brands and each one would be the correct size for that style. We strive to understand the proper fit of each different shoe we sell so we can offer you the correct size adjustment to give you the best fit for the shoe you desire. We will offer "Fitting Tips" in the details of the products, where there are known size variations.

Q: Is my credit card charged as soon as I place my order?"

A: No your credit card will only be charged when your order is shipped. Your charges will only be for products actually shipped.

Q: What if I want to order both in-stock shoes and pre-order shoes?"

A: Items in stock will be shipped right away. Pre-order and/or back order items will be shipped as soon as they arrive.

Please remember that each shipment carries a shipping charge of $8.99.

Unfortunately we cannot hold in-stock items longer than three weeks. If your pre-order/or back order will not be filled within three weeks, you can expect to receive at least two shipments.
